Clinical Analyis of Primary Closure and Delayed Primary Closure

Abstract
From october 1990 to september 1992. a prospective and randomized trial on 124 pateints with contaminated wound (70 cases of primary closure, 54 cases of delayed primary closure) was made to determine the which method decrease the wound infection
rate.
@ES The result were as follows:
@EN 1) As operative organ, wound infection was identified the primary closure and delayed primary closure: 11.5%, 7% on the stomach & duodenum. 18.2%, 10.0% on the small bowel, 40.0%, 12.6% on the Appendix, 33.4%, on the colon, respectively.
2) As incison of wound, infection of paramedian midline incison was higher than other incision.
3) Use of Nylon, percentage of wound infection was 19%, 11.8% on the primary closure & delayed primary closure, respectively. Use of skin tape, those percentage was 25%, 20%.
4) As cosmetic problem, it which used skin tape was better than it shich used Nylon on the primary closure and delayes primary closure. both.
5) As pain of wound. patients who was performed priomary closure complain moderate, severe pain, while poatient who was performed delayed primary closure complain mild pain.
6) Duration of wound healing was not significant.
